General Metal and Holloware

T. J. Cooke & Son

Cleveland Works, Wolverhampton

This company claimed, in the brochure of 1949 from which the items on this page have been taken, to be in their 101st year, which takes their date of foundation back to about 1848.  They seem to have specialised in lock furniture, door furniture and cabinet brassware

It is interesting that, in 1949, the most modern items in the catalogue are those with a distinct art deco feel to them.  We had not yet reached 1951 and the revolution in style that the Festival of Britain highlighted.
