| Several artists have painted or drawn
contemporary scenes from Wolverhampton's past. They faithfully
record long lost buildings and street scenes and are of great
interest to anyone who is interested in the City's past.
Today we take photography for granted and whenever a building
is about to be demolished it will inevitably be photographed and
preserved for posterity. There was a time before photography
became commonplace when this was not so, and artists were the
only people to record the passing scene.
Sadly such works of art are not on display locally and often
considered to be of no importance. To rectify this situation we
have added an art gallery that will mainly display old
Wolverhampton scenes. We hope you will enjoy your visit.
