TEMPLE STREET (Snow Hill)

Shown in Taylor’s map of 1755 as a pathway, Grey Pea Walk, this street, in the 19th Century, was the home for several independent Chapels.

TOWNWELL FOLD

Robert Plot's Natural History of Staffordshire says that Wolverhampton's water supply came from "four week springs" all of which rose together behind the Cock Inn.  The Cock Inn was near this fold on what is now called Victoria Street.  So the fold must be named after the source of the town's water supply.
