The Daisy Alcock Monuments

On the corner of Wolverhampton Road and New Cross Avenue is a piece of land that was once part of New Cross Farm. It contains a column that that was designed and built to commemorate Daisy Alcock. It consists of dark granite blocks with an open steel framework and is inscribed with two sets of alphabets, one in lower and one in upper case, but both in italic script.

On the opposite side of New Cross Avenue is another column, also commemorating Daisy's work. It consists of dark granite blocks and is shaped to look like a smoking chimney, which would have once been a common sight in the area. It also has letters carved into the stone to remind people of Daisy's calligraphy.

The first column.

The second column.
