Wolverhampton's Listed Buildings

Gorsty Hayes Manor House

Haywood Drive, Tettenhall

Listing: House, now two dwellings. Early C19 with earlier parts. Large C20 extension. Datestone with inscription: WS/1683. Gabled wing has C17 work to ground floor with C20 first floor.

Comment: The closeness of the house to the high brick wall - and it is a very nice wall - makes it impossible to get a better photo of this building, whose history seems just as secretive. Geoffrey Hancock's "A History of Tettenhall" seems not to mention it. It looks like a straightforward Georgian villa but the ground floor looks very Regency and interesting.
