Lost Buildings of Wolverhampton

An old Shop from Piper's Row

During a recent visit to the Black Country Living Museum, I went into their ironmonger's shop. The gentleman behind the counter informed me that the building came from Piper's Row. I have since contacted the Museum who confirm this. It was built in 1827 and dismantled in 1980.

The building is similar to many Wolverhampton street-corner shops, that have now been demolished. Its an excellent reconstruction of a 19th / early 20th century shop.
The old painted sign advertises tobacco. The shop was a  newsagent and tobacconists.
